Inventory built for gear rooms

Model cameras, kits, consumables, accessories, and locations as first-class types—with custom fields, per-location stock, and import tools to leave the spreadsheet behind.

All features

FeaturesInventory that matches a gear room

Generic ITAM tools treat everything like a laptop serial. Gearlog models how gear rooms actually work: serialized assets, bundled kits, quantity-tracked consumables, returnable accessories, and locations that hold stock.

Not another laptop registry

A media cage is not an IT asset dump. You lend packages, count batteries, and park gear in rooms—not only track depreciation on serialized hardware. Inventory types follow that reality so setup stays afternoon-sized for non-IT admins.

  • Built for lending rooms, not enterprise ITAM checklists
  • Displace the spreadsheet sign-out sheet first
  • Same workspace as checkout, condition, and service history

Assets, kits, and locations

Track individual assets alongside kits that bundle members and org-scoped locations that hold stock. Kits keep camera packages honest when the bag leaves the cage as one unit.

  • Serialized assets with categories and home locations
  • Kits that bundle assets and consumable members
  • Locations for cages, closets, and staging rooms

Consumables and accessories as types

Quantity stock is not a footnote on an asset record. Consumables are pools you issue when stock leaves the room. Accessories check out and return by quantity. For issue, restock, and low-stock workflows, see Consumables tracking.

  • Consumables for batteries, tape, PPE, and supplies
  • Accessories for cables, lenses, and other returnable quantity gear
  • Issue and low-stock detail on Consumables tracking

Custom fields that fit the room

Attach custom metadata fields—text, number, boolean, date, or select—to assets, kits, consumables, and accessories so your room’s vocabulary shows up in the record, not in a side spreadsheet.

Import what you already have

CSV import covers assets (name, asset tag, category, home location, notes) and a separate borrower import path—so you can stand up a room without retyping every row. Consumable and kit lists are managed in the app today.

Quantity stock and loans next

This page covers the gear-room model. Open Consumables for quantity stock, issue, and low-stock workflows. Open Checkout for loans, condition returns, and how kits and accessories move at the desk.

Common use cases

  • Stand up a media program inventory with cameras, kits, and locations in one afternoon.
  • Keep AV cage shelves and staging rooms as locations without a second system.
  • Import an existing asset list, then add consumables and kits in the app.
  • Attach custom fields for program-specific metadata without forking a spreadsheet.
